Never heard of "rat shot". What is it like? A .22 cal shotgun shell? It's so dinky that my husband used to shoot mice and rats with it in our kitchen, and the very limited "scatter" barely made dents in the baseboards.
(yeah, yeah, some people would think it's overkill, but it clears up the vermin problem instantaneously)

used to take out smaller rats with it myself. not very threatening to the neighborhood.

(Pelt them from the rooftops. If you've nothing else to throw, use sardines..)

I use the rat shot to kill the bumble bees that bore into my barn. They hover for a second and thats when I get them with my kimber 1911 model modified to shoot .22's. Sounds impressive but the rat shot does the work. I also use the rat shot for the mice in the barn with little damage to the walls. I did use a 12 gage once......I am a quick learner.
