I saw an episode a while back. I was impressed with the acting and the clever medical mystery plot. I wasn't impressed with the resolution, however. The story was about a girl athlete whose illness was revealed to be triggered by a pregnancy. The situation was resolved with an abortion.

I doubt I'll ever be a regular viewer.

No it didn't. It ended with the girl telling her parents, despite her right not to and she received only love and support. The rest was not part of the show.

The fact that abortion was a part of the plot didn't mean they were endorsing abortion. You missed the context. In fact, I commented on these boards months ago about how great and un-PC this series is, and that show was the example I cited. The girl was able to get an abortion and not tell her parents, which is simply a fact under the law. But the point is that House made it abundantly clear through words and attitude that he was absolutely disgusted by it.

The girl was a gymnast who was 13 and had gotten pregnant on the road with her team by an 18-year-old teammate, while she was supposedly under the coach's supervision. The pregnancy caused a rare life-threatening condition, but because of this stupid law, he couldn't even tell her frantic parents what was wrong with her, so the life-or-death decision was entirely in the immature hands of a 13-year-old. The scene where the parents stop him in the hall and beg him, "Can't you PLEASE just tell us what's wrong with our daughter?" and he stares at them and spits out, "No...I CAN'T" and walks off spoke volumes about how he felt about that law.
