There recently was a special on HBO about the founding of Air America and how it was done.
They never mentioned the graft given to them.

"The money will be paid back within two years," Rose said. "The first payment will be in September." Since when do crooks get to pay back their ill-gotten gains on the installment plan?

Had a conservative received money from a charity there would be hell to pay.
What in the world is going on with these charities.
I quit giving to the major organizations years ago when they decided that many Christian charities had to give in to their their demands about homosexuality, diversity and political correctness.
Many of the chiefs of these charities are some of the most liberal, American tradition hating, ACLU supporting leftists on the face of this earth.

The company that now owns Air America blames the Boys & Girls Club charity for alleged "mismanagement and corruption," but has still agreed to reimburse the organization.Paying the money back does not absolve them of a crime. Throw the book at them.

This story is getting more and more traction in NYC. I note the NY Post reported on it today. Has the Slimes picked it up yet?
Has the Slimes ever published anything about the U.N. Oil for Food Program. I'm serious, I haven't read the Slimes in 15 years.

Financial records filed with the Internal Revenue Service for the 2003 tax year show that GWBGC received... ...more than $ 3.7 million in taxpayer funding.

They are going to pay back the money Air America used not because they owe it, but because they are worried about their 'good name'. What a bunch of pantloads.
Air America used the money, they need to pay it back. Claiming the old LLC went defunct and they are off the hook paying back the kidsd is bs.

GWBGC received nearly $530,000 in private contributions and more than $ 3.7 million in taxpayer funding.Does GWBGC have the authority to become a lending institution by using the tax payers' money?

I would bet the rate of interest on this loan is low. I also would bet that the going rate of interest for a loan to a risky start up would be 12-19 percent. If this rate was not charged an illegal gift was taken by Air America. Their accountant under the new reporting rules, especially in New York with Mr. Spitzer at the helm is in deep doo doo. Years in jail for him and others in management.

Government subsidies in amounts that allow, after huge administrating costs and salaries, accumulation of monies in excess of operating expenses that allow loans loans to be made shows the totally corrupt government largess system.
One can only wonder what happens to the money granted to the National Endowment to the Arts?

I don't give to charities unless I know what they stand for. Salvation Army, Rescue Mission, 700 Club, Fellowship of Christians and Jews, etc. are the ones I trust the most.
