C130's over Georgia
Myself
Posted on 08/04/2005 7:11:39 PM PDT by greccogirl
Hello, fellow freepers. There seems to be heavy C130 flyings over the Dallas, and Acworth, Georgia areas this evening. I've seen several passes just before dark and one has passed over my house at least four times in the past half hour, quite low for them. Anyone know what is up?

My feelings exactly. I LOVE the sound of jet engines...

The Carter 130 cargo hauler is native to Plains, not Dallas.

Could be the GANG may have gained 48 add'l drill credits of flight time? Back in the early 70's there was a year where 48 add'l drills were authorized.

It leaves a lasting impression if it happens to sneak in from behind you at a couple hundred feet...I was no more than 5 years old when I saw my first C-130 mosquito sprayer (Hampton, VA). I ran in the house and hid under the sofa, I was so scared. Now I'm in the flight line for the Navy base in Norfolk, and I get nervous if I don't hear them flying low at least once a day.

In this location we are in a military operation area.
Lots of stuff from Dyess (Abilene), Sheppard (Wichita Falls) , tons of Army from Ft. Hood etc etc.
Am an old man, 60+ but totally enjoy sitting out on the patio drinking cold beer and looking up at the constant air show.
Life couldnt get any better!!!

Possible. I wasn't aware of them doing any T&G's on the J lately, I'll try to find out tomorrow.

There seems to be heavy C130 flyings over the Dallas, and Acworth, Georgia areas this evening. They build them and fix them near there. When they think there is something wrong, they fly them around until they figure out the fix. So when one flies over, it is either new and untested, or broken and being tested.

that were sold to Iran back in the early 80's that sat on the tarmac rusting for many years.Libya, and they were sitting there well before 1980. I think there were 3 of them. They finally moved them away from the road. I don't know what finally happened to them.

I forgot about Reserve Training. That is probably the best explanation.

They also did the C5 there.
Now THAT'S one big airplane!
To: PAR35
I know. I work on that plane. But never saw so many circles over my way.
