The parents were/are here "illegally". Illegally means that they shouldn't be here.

Arkansas was in the United States the last time I checked.

"the children, who are by the way American citizens" That's a part of the law that could use changing. If it were done here like it is in most other places, the illegal immigration would drop to a trickle.
