I was reading some different stories on this, then looking up the husband's name. He found his wife through an agency that places Russian brides. It also appears that he is a Scientologist, as his names appears on a number of websites for Businesses owned by Scientologists.

I didn't think this could be the guy, but the age is correct, and I checked the California registry of CPAs--there is only one Ronald Singerman, CPA in California.

Swanston said it was unclear when Singerman met Cullen, who owns a coupon book business and is on federal parole for a wire fraud conviction in the 1980s.

According to the Bureau of Prisons, he was just released in 2002.
