No problem. We will find all the i's dotted and the t's crossed. This would have been a legal issue and I'm sure the judge was able to satisfactorily deal with all of that. I'm also sure he was vetted more than once for various jobs, one of which was a circuit appointment a few years ago.
If anything, the NYT could buy off poor folks in Latin America to claim wrongdoing/extortion/pressure in allowing the children to be adopted.
That might be one avenue of approach to close off right away.
No need to go to that expense - they'll just make them up.
