TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jon S. Corzine loaned the president of New Jersey's largest state workers union $470,000 when the two were romantically involved about three years ago, then forgave the debt late last year, according to two published reports.

Corzine, New Jersey's senior U.S. senator, turned the 10-year mortgage into a gift to Carla Katz just a week after kicking off his campaign for governor and several months after the two stopped dating, The Star-Ledger of Newark and The New York Times reported in Thursday's newspapers. Katz is president of the Communications Workers of America, Local 1034.

How much did that union contribute to his campaign? If there's a quid pro quo here, make room in the penitentary.

Forgiving a debt like that is amounts to a gift, which is subject to gift taxes. What are the chances of that particular law being complied with, in this case?

The criminals who run the democrat party never, ever, ever give direct bribe or payoff money.

The illegal money is always a "loan." A "loan" that is never paid off.

The Clintons went from dirt poor white trash to multi-millionaires thanks in part top such generous loans and other money laudering.

Well, I guess you could call the IRS fraudline and hope that you could recover a part of the collected taxes as a "bounty."

Tru luv, Democrat-style. How positively romantic in the vein of "Be still my heart" (/sarcasm).

Ugh, a sweaty, unattractive Dem politico with a bad combover paying money to his union chickadee. Let's see if the law regarding bribery and illegal contributions gets enforced THIS time. . .

These Democrats are always IN BED with the unions.

Unions and Democrats, Perfect Together. Filthy and corrupt to the core.

I don't think this is bigger then anything Torch did. IMHO the biggesty issue is having him negotiate a contract for NJ (supposedly representing the tax payers) while she is representing the largest state worker local.

"How much did that union contribute to his campaign? If there's a quid pro quo here, make room in the penitentary."

That doesn't make any sense at all. He could have just spent the money on his own campaign. What would be the point of funneling it through a union?
