"More good news..."

Think so?
Best I can say is, hope so.
I've excerpted some interesting points to kick around with you; especially, since you requested I provide you example(s) of "conservative" print propaganda of which I feel WND is an *excellent* example.
Now then...

"This week, hundreds of young conservatives from college and university campuses across America are gathering at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., for the annual Young America's Foundation Conference."

*Hundreds*??
Not that I don't find the number refreshingly, I do.
Nonetheless I'll get all excited when the day comes an author reports there're [100s of] thousands of right-wing youngsters, amassing.
OK?

"As the hippie professors' pony tails wax grayer and grayer, the rising generation of conservative students grows stronger and stronger."

Great hope and -- I pray -- truth in this apparent statement of fact.
Those in control of academia wield great power over the heads of today's university student, make no mistake about that, either.
That goes *doubly* for those who're actually in attendance to learn *&* earn good grades to go on & secure themselves a decent paying job.
I'll go out on a limb & say that *type* of student is 99.9% right-wing in ideology & also not about to jeopardize their scholastic standing solely on "principle".
Simply goes against the grain of human nature *and* their long range goal(s), don'tcha think?
That'd be [far] too much to expect from ambitious youngsters who've drive, foresight & a genuine concern of where they're going to be in 5 years after they've left the pony-tailed idiots at whatever their alma mater.
No.
It's the Left's useful idiots out raising hell over matters they know not a thing while risking that which they never had to start.

"No one knows the burgeoning power of the conservative movement on America's college campuses like the far-Left activists whose efforts these days are consistently less persuasive, less civil, and less consequential."

True.
But the Liberal-Socialist presence is also omni/ever present, nonetheless.

"'Liberals do predominate in college and university faculties,' writes Campus Progress director David Halperin. But, it is conservatives who are winning the battle of ideas on campus these days."

Maybe so.
But who ever gets a chance to *hear* [of] their idea(s), or, victories.
~eh?
Today's right leaning conservative "student(s)" have been [successfully] relegated to underground status; so, spreading of The Word will unfortunately be very slow.

"Progressives have been out-hustled and need to fight back – with serious, comprehensive efforts to strengthen progressive voices among young people and to empower new generations of leaders."

Impossible.
Goes directly against the very ethos landing them on the left to begin with.
What it takes to "be" a Liberal-Socialist today on *any* campus: "big mouth" - "dimwitted" - "a follower" - 'good-time charlie' mentality/mindset etc.
What the pony-tailed ones *failed* to understand was recruiting that ilk's *calibre* meant they weren't really good for shit, never-mind anything constructive insofar as "building" any kind of future movement goes.

HA!
In fact the Liberal-Socialist brainstems who overwhelmingly make up the ranks of todays left are, well, in short *burned-out* going in. :o)

"If progressives do not step up to meet these challenges, they risk widening the conservative advantage for many decades to come."

Just as todays "conservatives" are far more likely to embrace ideals that're not really "conservative" in nature ("neocon"?), a'tall.
Sets up what's been theorized the inevitable juxtaposition of sides a few years down the road, eh?
Never know. ;^)

"So last month, Campus Progress held its first national conference for liberal students to counteract the fruitful work of groups like Young America's Foundation and the Leadership Institute, Collegiate Network, College Republicans, and campus Christian and pro-life groups. Campus Progress, a project of the Center for American Progress, claims that campus life is 'rapidly tilting rightward.'"

To the above list of prerequisites for being "recognized" a genuine Liberal-Socialist I foolishly omitted paranoid (in the extreme).
Whatever it takes to shake 'em out their stupor, right?
That's always been fear.
Fear of losing something one either never knew they had, didn't use, or wouldn't recognize if it smacked 'em upside the head.
SOS.

"It is certainly an exaggerationprofessors are overwhelmingly left-wing, administrators enforce political correctness with vengeance, and the terms of learning are set by educators who call themselves socialists, communists, progressives, liberals, and/or atheists."

Yup.
Correcto-mundo.

"Halperin writes. 'Today there is strong evidence of an intensified conservative effort to grab the upper hand in the campus world.'"

Dear Lord, hear our cries. Make this true so this great nation's educational institutions may once again get back to the business of educating the upcoming generations to be the envy of the civilized world, once again?
Amen.

"There could be no better contrast between the mood at this week's Young America's Foundation Conference – optimistic, aggressive, confident – and the mood at last month's Campus Progress Conference – pessimistic, stuck-in-the-1960s, bewildered."

And dear Lord, while you're at the task of hearing my prayer?
Can you make this a true, too?
I mean, while you're at it?
Amen.

"The young Right may have more work to do, but the young Left doesn't even know how to defend its territory. For too long, it has taken its establishment for granted. And it was the establishment, you may recall, that the Left aimed to destroy in the 1960s. Now that they are the establishment, the same pattern of rebellion must repeat. Only this time, it's a conservative youth rebellion."

Recall what I'd written on the other thread concerning who once dominated the MSM?
When the pendulum of power swings, it influences all arenas to swing with it. ;^)

"Political correctness has permeated so deeply into the contemporary campus that young people, instead of being attracted by it, are so repulsed that they are driven to seek conservative ideas."

Some do, yes...many don't.
Pause a moment & think about the reason(s) "political correctness" came to college campuses, using 'em as some kind of ground-zero.
There *is* a relationship between youth, ignorance, maturity and wisdom and isn't it that relationship that took the biggest hit?

I believe "inclusion" played a HUGE role in "PC" policies, or, insofar as noting the moment when "education" went from a noble pursuit to becoming strictly a "business".
My memory clearly recalls the then President of the UIUC telling the local rag wayyyy back around '91-'92 or so -- while I lived in the city of Urbana where I'm ashamed to say I was *trapped* for nearly a decade -- "what" the university's goal was to become in the local rag.
Hell's bells I had to ask my wife WTF the bald little twerp was saying!!

There'll surely be great resistance to any attempt to raise standards, IF, it means some will be excluded because of said standard9s).
Bank on it.
Moreover that resistance will make getting *rid* of PBS look like child's play.
Hopefully I'm wrong; but, I *do* know academia and the academics infesting the field like the back of my catcher's mit sized hand, I know 'em.

"Besides the growing conservative movement on major secular campuses, the student body growth at evangelical Christian colleges outpaces growth at any other kind of higher education institution."

And if/when this trend begins to manifest in those who attend such parochial private institutions landing the best paying jobs in the marketplace?
Then & only then will we see the state run -- & increasing private ones -- places dump the PC madness so fast it'll make a lot of people's heads spin.
The operative word here is, of course, "if".

"In other words, there's hope for the future. The days of the radical Left on America's campuses are as numbered as the waning employability of the Baby Boom generation. And the Right, celebrating permanence and principles and posterity – the requisites for further advances in the next generation – is rising."

A lot of optimism, here.
What were you saying about "hyperbole" on the other thread, my friend? :o)

"I've done my part."

I might not believe the sky is blue, but I'd have no doubt -- a'tall -- of the superb job you've done raising your babies, my friend.
Great husband, father, citizen and friend you are.
Just makes sense. ;^)

Bottom line: the generation of young people coming of age are most like the WWII generation; willing to sacrifice for something larger than themselves.

ABSOLUTELY!! I'm glad someone finally said it. I've been telling my dad this same thing for about 5 years now. I understand my own grandparents better than people of a younger generation. If you cut through all the hardcore rock and roll, the fascination with different kinds of movies, body piercings, weird hair color, and all that, the people of this generation share a lot of the same ideas and values as the WW2 generation. I see it all around me. I'm so happy that I'm not the only one that noticed it.

Well..., I can't take any credit for this insight. Strauss and Howe wrote the book on it. If you get the chance, you should check it out on Amazon. It's a facinating read, and I'm sure they've updated it since the original publication.

It's really weird to read about people in the 17th and 18th century who seem so real and alive because for the first time you can understand how they felt and thought.

Only once in American history does the cycle not hold. Can you guess when it was?

It was the Civil War (the War Between the States for our southern friends), when a large portion of the best of an entire generation were not there to lead the country in their advancing years.

Just so. Whilst reading the article the thought kept creeping in about that Chinese dude; Tsun Tzu was it? Disinformation and deception in war are the norm; not the exception. The latest generation is growing up radically conservative, so maybe we should just relax and bide our time. I don't see it in this latest generation myself. It seems they had/have way too many forces working against 'em. I hope I'm wrong.

I've excerpted some interesting points to kick around with you; especially, since you requested I provide you example(s) of "conservative" print propaganda of which I feel WND is an *excellent* example.

Well, almost. What I was asking for was examples of conservative MSM puffery; you know, like the NYT, LAT, WaPo, ABCNNBCBS on the left. IOW, starting say, in mid century, maybe earlier, up UNTIL the internet, talk radio, etc.; WHERE was the conservative media? I would submit the left wingnut media steadily gained in prominence and influence during that period of time(again, where was the right wingnut media?). By the mid - late 70's(?) they were running virtually unapposed. A breakaway runner in an open field so to speak. Where was the conservative message then and why did conservatives forfeit the game? Anyway, the only reason I asked was 'cause you said it was there ;^)

You and I are pretty much in agreement on the rest of your comments; and well said, too.

Yes indeed; RAW if need be. The Lone Star gene is in their blood ;^)
