I worry more about Mt. Renier. When that one blows, California is in big trouble. It'll signal the break up of the western U.S. coast. The ring of fire will implode.

I'm slowly reaching for the Tums. I have noticed a marked increase in small quakes in the New Madrid fault area. Am I imagining this without historical forethought, or is it actually ramping up with activity?

There are few mountains to impede the waves from the epicenter in a mostly sand-clay soil.

The webcam shows Mt. St. Helens enveloped in what looks to be a cloud of dust. Cool!

Renier

Renier = Rainier.

I don't think Rainier will take the whole west coast with it when it goes. It will, however, take most of Pierce County. Given the meth lab population there, it might not be a bad thing.

Check out the webcam when you get a chance. What does that look like to you?

A lot of haze. Is that ash, or August fog?

See post 13, ValerieUSA already has that info (FReepers are so quick!)

A fair amount of dust and ash is being kicked up by Easterly and South-Easterly winds. The winds are hitting the crater from an angle that it normally does not blow and kicking up dust and ash that has not been affected by winds for several months. You are not viewing an ash emission!

Okay, thanks. It looked like dust to me, but I'd never seen it do that before.

It does look pretty bizarre compared to all the other webcam shots.

Well except when Mothra attacked the camera ... that was pretty funny.

LOL! Yep. Too bad a gecko didn't crawl across the camera, we would have had the beginnings of a great horror flick.

"The senior senator from Mass. and junior senator from N.Y. should do it!"

Yeah, right. Like you're really gonna be able to get Kennedy's fat a$$ down in that volcano.
