Nice idea for ripping off the rich liberal snobs. It's money they won't be sending to the Rats, the Anti-Christian Liberal Un-Americans, the abortion lobby, and the environmental fascists.

The drink is made with Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac, Grand Marnier, orange juice and sour mix.

Sour MIX??? For $135 it shouldn’t be made with a mix!

Now I know I'm not hip. Incidentally, I used to walk past the place all the time. Out front, there was always a line of wannabes waiting to be abused.

...and like McDonalds, the glass can be taken home by the consumer.

For $135.00 - $700.00 your damn straight the glass is going to be TAKEN home!

"To be hip in Chicago has reached the stage of laying out $135 for a single cocktail, or $700 for tea and cognac."

ie., cities like Chicago have such an over burgeoning population problem the only solution is to cater to specific clients according to their available cash. That and a good way to monitor(sting) local drug cartels who are stupid enough to flaunt it.

Reminds me of a cartoon - this bum has a sign - Want $500 for a cup of coffee - a passerby says "$500 for a cup of coffee?" the bum says "yea, I want to drink it in Paris"

The scene: small town bar deep in the south.
The date: mid 1950's

4 black people walk into the bar.

Redneck says to the bartender: "you gotta serve them, it is the law".
Bartender: "yes, I know, but watch this"
"yes sir, what can I get you'll"
"We will have 4 rum and cokes"
"yes sir, thats $400"
"here you go"

Back at the bar, the redneck says "What are you going to do now?"

Bartender: "If they order another round, you poor white trash are going to have to leave".

No chance of hangover with $135 drinks

For the girlie-men at UPI, maybe.

Philistine! It's not drunk with a pink out, but sipped daintily with a relaxed wrist.

Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac

To mix that with anything is a sacrilege.

What's the saying -- more money than sense? I think it applies.

Tea and cognac? ** shudder **

Hmm, if they think that's expensive, try a Ginza hostess club. Blow $10,000 in one night.

The more you charge for something, the more chance that too-rich-for-their-own-good yuppies will snap it up!

Why would anyone ruing perfectly good Remy Martin Louis XIII by mixing it with *anything*? Talk about unclear on the concept! Yet another demonstration of "too hip = idiotic"!

Why would anyone mix fine Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac with orange juice and sour mix? That would be a true waste of exquisite cognac. That would be like opening a bottle of vintage champagne to drink with a meal from Taco Johns.

I savored my bottle of tres fine champagne Remy Martin cognac for nearly 10 years enjoying it only on special occasions usually with a fine cigar.
