Obviously, you are not Catholic. Mrs. Torres and her family are devout Catholics; as such, you refuse "extraordinary means" to keep you alive when you could not remain alive without extraordinary intervention (such as being brain dead and not being able to breathe or have your heart beat without mechanical assistance). However, you are FORBIDDEN (i.e. it is a mortal sin) to deny normal treatment to yourself or others (such as food and/or water) which would CAUSE your death (which was the case with Terri Schiavo).

Her family's sacrifices to keep her alive in order that their baby might live are heroic and tragic and firmly within the sphere of the culture of life. God bless them.

"Playing" devil's advocate is in terribly poor taste.

Actually, I am Catholic, just not a die-hard sheep like some (not saying there is anything wrong with that).

To me (this is my opinion) quality of life means not having to rely on others to take care of me 24/7. If I need a feeding tube to sustain my life for the rest of my life and/or I will never be able to do anything that I enjoy doing now, then my life is over. And as soon as I get a "Round To-It" I plan on creating a living will with these wishes.

Now don't go and misconstrue what I mean. I believe that Terri should not have been removed from the feeding tubes. There was nothing in writing stating her wishes. Conniving spouses every where are now creating malicious plans. A very dangerous precedent was set down there in Florida.
