There is a more informative story in the Washington Times on this family. The mother's heart rate was failing, her blood pressure was going up, it appeared her body was shutting down so the doctors knew they had to take the baby. The baby seems very healthy; the doctors said she kicked so vigorously she knocked an IV from one doctor's hand. There also was no sign of cancer in the placenta. Apparently, in about 13 similar cases, cancer passed to the baby in 6 of them (I believe that's right, need to re-read the article to verify the number). The family should know within six months if any cancer passed to the baby.
A side note some may not realize; the family's priest is Father Paul Scalia, who is Justice Scalia's son. He baptized the baby and gave the mother last rites.
Definitely need to keep this family in one's prayers.
