Well, how come people never make Labs or Goldens mean?

They do. I've been bitten by a lab. You can't condemn a whole breed, (or race for that matter) because some of them are vicious.

PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DEALING WITH WHEN THEY GET A DOG,

I've done Australian Shepherd rescue and it AMAZES me the people that get rid of them because they "chase my kids around and bite their ankles"..

LOL on the Australian Shepherd! I have an Australian Cattle dog and that's how she plays! She's blind now, but she goes after the ankles with nips! It drives our Golden NUTS! The golden hates it, and we can't let them play outside together because the Golden makes it well known if the Aussie nips her heels again, Aussie will die! :-D OTHERWISE they get along great!

I hear ya! I do Cocker Spaniel rescue and I will just say PEOPLE amaze me!
They get a puppy then complain about how hard it is to house break it and they don't want to spend the time or money for obedience classes so they get upset when the result is a teenage dog who doesn't obey them. The solution... they dump it at the pound or with me. The worst part is they often go looking for a new puppy! Last week I had someone call me wanting to adopt a puppy, the SAME DAY they had dumped their 10 yrear old at the pound because she wasn't playful with the kids annymore and they didn't want the kids to see her age and die. And don't get me started on the people who have a pet for 8-10 years or more but then it gets blind or sick so they dump it at the pound! Or they call me and want me to take their pet to be euthanized. Dogs good, people bad!
My beloved cocker who we rescued years ago died in her sleep Sat night...I have little patience for these people at the moment.

"PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DEALING WITH WHEN THEY GET A DOG"

It's not the owners who were "dealing" with something...it was the victim and the child's mother. Like so very many victims of "Rot" and "Pit" maulings, it's the innocent neighbor or someone who happens into eyesight of the vicious dog who is forced to pay the price for the decisions, and irresponsibility of the dog's too-often reckless, give-s-sh!t owners.

More and more cities are outlawing such dogs, and thank God they are. It's time that parents start standing up and making nose about people who keep four-legged time bombs like this dog to protect their children...that's our damned job! The owners of this dog should be in jail.

Yeah, they buy a herding dog and then can't figure out why it exhibits herding behavior. I have a GSD and he does the same sort of thing with the kids, won't let one of them stray to far from his view without coming around in front of them and moving them back to the "herd"
