The solution, which I am working on, is eating less, less fats and refined sugars, no artifical or pre-prepared foods, never any sodas and few if any desserts, and exercise more.

Hmm, sounds a lot like Atkins....

Maybe, but I eat unrefined carbs *and* I am a vegetarian! Get protein from a few nuts, some milk products, and beans.

Lost some weight already, don't do scales so I don't know exactly.

Getting the body moving is definitely one of the main factors. When I used to exercise much more, I never had a weight problem. Exericise (I don't mean jogging or running which is really a stress on the body, esp the feet, ankles and knees) helps normalize the appetite as well.

Also, I don't own a TV so no just sitting and munching!
