Advice well taken, grandma mac. :)

My anger is a little more personal too. My son is not a Marine, but served in a 15 month deployment in Baghdad in the Army reserves.

He came home safely, thanks to God's mercy and grace, and we are so proud of his service, and feel such grief for those whose sons did not come home.

It is a personal affront to me and my family when this noble and just mission is besmirched by those who have no stake in it, and the Commander in Chief is belittled by those who are completely ignorant of who he is.

I'm going to do more than pray for these families. I AM going to see what I can do personally. One of the young men lived in the same town my sister lives in, and I plan to find out what I can do to help that family deal with this enormous loss.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Ah, no wonder you have personal feelings. 15 months waiting for your son's safe return would make the grief you feel for your fellow Ohioans even more poignant and heartbreaking.

Yes, there are some who besmirch this "noble and just mission", and yes, they also belittle President Bush. History often repeats itself. President Abraham Lincoln was denigrated and mocked in his time, and yet he was the Commander in Chief of the army that freed the slaves. History will judge President Bush and kindly, I suspect.

I really don't want to see this war come to our shores. I never want to see the day when little American girls are treated like the little ones in Afghanistan were, afraid to go outdoors or be allowed to go to school. I pray that our little American boys and girls never feel the terror of rape rooms or torture chambers, like the people of Iraq hadsuffered. What could be more noble & just that keeping America safe while also also giving a first precious taste of freedom to those Afghanis & Iraqis?
