He was probably working for a gypsy outfit. He probably got the map from a "friendly" neighbor. If the police talked to him, he probably won't be back. I used to see these people all the time when I lived in apartments.

This is probably accurate. There are Irish Travelers living across the state line in SC from Augusta and they prey on Georgia folks all the time. Though I've never heard of selling books - they tend to do fix-it-up for elderly scams.

Same here, those guys even put there foot in the door jam, I would answer the door with a buck knife behind my back...

I had one gal bang on the door trying to sell magazines for some trip...she kept pressing the issue and get this, she asked if my wife was home and said if she wasn't she could give me an extra incentive !wink! !wink!...

I told her to bugger off...
