Rob Portman held this seat until Bush named him US Trade Representative. The district covers Cincinnati and southwestern Ohio, very conservative area. Jean Schmidt was not a great candidate for our side, she is considered a RINO by many, as well as an ally of Repub Gov Bob Taft whom currently enjoys a 19% approval rating due to scandals and the fact he raised taxes. Her opponent fought in the Iraqi war, and basically ran as a Repub.

Yeah, I've heard that cannard go around before. "Schmidt is a RINO." "Schmidt is opposed by the Club for Growth."

Maybe Jean's voted for a tax increase as part of an overall budget while in the OH legislature, but she's as pro-life as they come. She was the president of Cincinnati Right to Life and has a great pro-life record as a state rep. I'm pretty happy with her election!
