DANBURY, CT-August 2, 2005 First Sergeant William von Zehle thinks he has the mother of all Mercedes, Saddam Hussein's car.
The Connecticut soldier bought the car for about $5,000 when he was serving in Baghdad. The armored Mercedes even has flame throwers that shoot out the sides for crowd control.
Von Zehle says he did some research on his pimped-up ride and found just three of armored 560 models were sold to the Iraqi government in 1988. He says that means only one thing Saddam.
Von Zehle had the Mercedes shipped back home where it sits in his garage. He hasn't registered the car yet and says it needs some work.
He says he has to replace a broken front passenger window. But the bulletproof glass costs more than $14,000.
"The armored Mercedes even has flame throwers that shoot out the sides for crowd control."
And scientists are worried about microwave crowd control.
Easily GET 50K for it here, I meant to say.
I suppose being a member of the conquering Army has its perks
This thing could be bid up to the stratosphere.
This is a better investment than Hillary's cattle futures.
Yeah, that'll go over well in the traffic jammed road raged NY-CT-NJ Tri-State area ........ {chuckle}
Yeah, but does it have decent cup holders?
If that car was properly marketed on southeby's or even eBay with a few media outlets reporting it was up for auction! You're right, it would be fun to watch and see how high it would go.
Yes but does this meet EPA standards?
The car?
Or the flamethrowers?
How soon before it hits ebay?
It took many years for Bill Gates to try to get his imported sports car street legal, back in the early 1990's. I think he eventually gave up trying.
50K like Hell, that car will fetch no less than a million, and even that may be too conservative an estimate.
Flamethrowers for crowd control?
I'd bet there is a compact shredding machine in the trunk.
For PEOPLE.
No ebay. I believe we will see this a a big time major league auto auction. It may well get a million dollars.
