Over 100 Iraq Soldiers Hit With Food Poisoning

More than 100 Iraqi soldiers were hospitalized Tuesday after they fell ill with symptoms of food poisoning at their base in northern Iraq, police said.

The incident occurred at an Iraqi base in Tikrit, 130 kilometers (80 miles) north of Baghdad and Saddam Hussein's hometown.

Police Capt. Hakim al-Azawi said the matter was under investigation.

Could be anything, have to wait and see if it happens again. Glad our mess halls in Iraq are not using locals working in the kitchens. At least they weren't when I was there.

My husband said this same thing happened on New Years Day Dinner 2004 at Anaconda. "A refrigerator with spaghetti trays was inadvertantly left open for several hours" the official press release said.

What it didn't say was what happpened on the road the next morning when we had convoys to move! He said every convoy stopped a couple of times while crew members grabbed their ankles! They rotated the gunner position between all three team members. Yea they say some of the funniest stories come from moments like that, he wasn't laughing then. :)

I'd bet it was improperly cooked and prepared pork.
