On Bush Supreme Court nomination
I am very curious about the question that Sen. Charles Schumer has asked Supreme Court nominee John Roberts: "Is it appropriate for the Supreme Court to overturn a well-settled precedent, upon which Americans have come to rely?"
Is Sen. Schumer referring to Brown vs. Board of Education (1954), where the Supreme Court overturned Plessy vs. Ferguson (1896), a well-settled precedent upon which Americans had come to rely for 58 years, and which consigned black Americans to Jim Crow laws, second-class citizenship and legal segregation?
What puzzles me is why Sen. Schumer seems so opposed to the court's action. Does he wish to return to the days of legal segregation?
If so, does his desire reflect the position of the Democratic Party?
Or did he have some other Supreme Court decision in mind?

Every time I see Schumer on TV, I'm reminded of my mother's warning, "keep making faces like that, Eric, and your face will be stuck that way forever."

Schumer is a NY nut case. Any wonder. The Rat pack will fall and they will take the party with them. They just don't get it.

The American people had also come to rely on the Supreme Court's Dred Scott decision. Of course, a Civil War overturned that one.
I think it was John Cornyn who said, "Sharks can't stop swimming, and Schumer can't stop having press conferences."

I'm a fifth-generation Maine native. I've never seen a better fire-starter, puppy-trainer or birdcage-liner than the Portland Press Herald. To use the "news"paper when referring to this rag is to do so very lightly... everything is so liberally slanted.
Let's kick that bum Baldacci out of office, by the way.

Wow, would that be an amazing answer to Chucky during the confirmation hearing, or what?!?!
