Regarding the enterprises on board. Are they independent of the cruise lines? If so, I would background check the casino employees. Most of the service help were "short term" young "students" from 30+ countries - well mannered and hard working....they sometimes work 24 hour shifts.
You are correct - remember to pack sunscreen & your common sense when you leave home.

While looking for the item about 12 people missing/dead on cruise ships, I found that there are several items about the mistreatment of the staff on board. Many don't renew after the first contract.
Security tips included the nod that rapes 'do occur' and 'don't take strangers back to your room after drinking.' Gee, ya think?
