That's completely understandable too. This one hits a nerve because it all goes to the protection of our kids and the balance of how much freedom to give them. People want to prepare their children to avoid predators and make them wise as snakes, but also (somehow) keep them innocent as lambswith the idealism and optimism of youth. It's such a difficult balance.
And helpless is exactly the word to describe it. It is like the homicide bombers. If someone is intent on trading his life to kill others, there's pretty much no stopping him. So it is with most predators. And here is the dilemma: Go out into public and risk getting blown up? Or hide in a closet, which is not living at all? Most neither choose to live in Gaza, nor under their bed as a hermit. They live somewhere in betweenwhere there is some danger, but also life . . .
