Smoking cigarettes does not lead one to impairment of one's faculties. There is a big difference. So, you're right: smoking cigarettes will not lead to smoking pot. But, heavy drinking may lead to pot, sex and other unhealthy, amoral activities more often that you can imagine.
Sorry, I don't know. But I had the feeling it was not all that long ago. IIRC it was posted in last two days that it caused an argument when he tried to pin it on someone else. He finally admitted it. But it looks like he's learned not to admit to things anymore.
They left together, with mutual consent and rather than accept that fact people including her parents want to believe otherwise and that will be why this case is never solved.

"may" is an important word which I believe was omitted before. It could happen, yes. Maybe the odds are greater if you're talking teen alcoholics. I don't know. I don't make that kind of blanket statement most of the time. Too judgmental for me.

I agree with you. If for no other reason than to provide closure for Beth Holloway, if she knows anything, she should tell.
Where have you learned she was forced into the car? Ones who saw her going did not see any distress from her, as a matter-of-fact, she was laughing and having a good time. Just who saw her being forced into the car or as her mother has surmised, a taxi.
This is just another example of something that probably began as some internet rumor and has become fact. It's pretty frustrating to try to sort the whole thing out. If it is TRUTH we are in search of, we're not doing a very good job of it.

That was a THEORY of mine. Not something I have a source for, just a possibility from other posts I've read. NSNR has said that NH's roomies stated they were at the pool until 5:30 a.m. Anyone know a source for that?

At least we're talking about it. That's more than JVDS is doing. At this rate, we'll never have the truth.

Let's sort it out TbV. What do we know as fact?
1) Natalee and friends had conversations with Joran.
2) Natalee introduced herself to Joran.
3) Natalee and Joran were in C&Cs at the same time and talked.
4) Natalee appeared to have left willingly with Joran.
5) Natalee has disappeared.
6) We have never heard what Joran has testified to.
7) We know Joran was a gambler.
8) We know Joran is in jail.
9) We know anything beyond this is speculation.
I am pretty pessimistic about ever knowing the truth. There is no reason for Joran, if guilty, to talk. There is no known forensic evidence, no body, probably no eyewitnesses. Only if he was foolish enough to tell someone else who is credible is he going to get caught. The thing that is mind-blowing is that a kid could pull something like this off. Most people would have screwed up somewhere along the way, but he appears to have covered his tracks very well. There is at least one accomplice, IMO. Prime suspect: Paulus.
