KATHERINE WEATHERLY, WAS AT CARLOS AND CHARLIE`S WITH NATALEE: Yes.
GRACE: Hi, dear. Thanks for being with us. Now, were you there that night at Carlos and Charlie`s?
WEATHERLY: Yes, ma`am. I was there.
GRACE: What did you see? Did you see Joran Van Der Sloot there?
WEATHERLY: Actually, Natalee -- I was with Natalee. We were all together, dancing, and Natalee was only with Joran towards the end of the night. But I did pass him. I didn`t really even notice him. And that was it.
GRACE: So when you saw him later in the evening with Natalee, what were they doing?
WEATHERLY: I didn`t see him later in the night with Natalee. I saw him in passing, and that was it.
GRACE: OK. How was Natalee that evening?
WEATHERLY: She appeared fine. She wasn`t acting out of control or anything so...
GRACE: Did you see her when she left?
WEATHERLY: No, I did not see her.
GRACE: Had you already left?
WEATHERLY: Well, Carlos and Charlie`s closed at 1:00 o`clock, and when it closed, everyone was getting in taxis at the same time and it was really chaotic. And I got in a taxi, and everyone just thought that everyone would get home OK. There were so many people leaving at one time, it was just...
GRACE: OK. Hold on. Am I getting Claire Fierman yet, Elizabeth (ph)? OK. I`m hearing...
CLAIRE FIERMAN, WAS IN ARUBA ON GRADUATION TRIP WITH NATALEE: Hey, sorry. It`s sort of breaking up.
GRACE: Hey, Claire.
FIERMAN: Hey.
GRACE: Claire, did you see Joran Van Der Sloot that evening?
FIERMAN: Did I see him? I`m sorry, I -- (INAUDIBLE) breaking up. No, I`ve never seen him. I wasn`t at Carlos and Charlie`s, and I`d never seen him -- I`ve never seen him ever.
GRACE: Claire, when did you realize Natalee was not there to return home?
FIERMAN: The next morning, I was on an earlier flight than everybody else, and Francis Ellen (ph), one of our friends, came and found me and Katherine in the airport and told us that Natalee wasn`t flying home, that they did not know where she was.
GRACE: But to Katherine Weatherly. Katherine, when did you realize that Natalee wasn`t there to return home?
WEATHERLY: I realized the same time as Claire, actually, but at the time, we thought maybe she slept in. We didn`t -- I mean, we were very concerned, but we thought...
GRACE: What did you do?
WEATHERLY: ... she would be coming home. We -- well, we had to get on the plane immediately after that, and we got on the plane...
GRACE: Nobody tried to call her?
WEATHERLY: Oh, yes. People -- we were getting -- her cell phone was in her room at the time. She didn`t take her cell phone with her.
GRACE: Did you try and call her before you got on the plane?
WEATHERLY: No. We knew that she didn`t have her cell phone with her, so there was no point in calling, if she -- because -- well, they -- I wasn`t there when they realized that she was missing. I was told in the airport. But I know that other people did, and -- but realized that she didn`t have her phone with her.
GRACE: Why would anybody know she didn`t have her phone with her?
WEATHERLY: Because they saw her phone in the hotel room. She hadn`t taken it out with her that the night.
GRACE: OK. It just seems to me that everybody keeps their cell phone with them. Why wouldn`t she have it that morning? But you`re telling me people did try to call her, right?
WEATHERLY: No. Well, no. They -- no. They didn`t -- everyone knew -- when the next morning that her cell phone was there. I was just saying that we would have tried to call her. I don`t know if people actually did try and call her or not, but the people that were in her room knew that she hadn`t had her phone that night.
GRACE: Right. Right.

Toespi, why does "let's just leave it at that" make you think Byrd had complicity in Nat's disappearance?
Oh, I think she was back at the hotel. But not because of the Byrd statement. It's because that was the plan. And the reason that the tape was broken or turned off.
I've thought that from all the still images. But the video with her in the back seat talking, she's just like her mom. I'm assuming the picture they show on fox with Natalee, her dad and the other boy, the boy is her brother? He's a big guy!!

Wow! Are you a gourmet? What I wouldn't give for all of us to sit and eat with Natalee...
I do not necessarily think Byrd did this, but why not ask some questions? IMHO the family has lost valuable time looking at only one scenario and one outcome in this matter. I believe Joran may very well have left her on the beach and something happened to her when she was walking back. I related a story in an earlier post that happened to me when I was a teenager, and even though it came out okay (some may not think so) it is an eerily similiar possibility.

I wonder if Frances Ellen maybe wasn't supposed to say anything about the hotel and then had to backtrack. That's boring, but maybe true?
Natalee Holloway's Mom To Turn Up The Heat
(CBS) Beth Twitty has returned to Aruba determined to turn up the heat on island authorities investigating the disappearance of her daughter, Natalee Holloway, reports Mike Kirsch.
The Alabama teen has been missing on the island more than two months.
Twitty says she wishes she could talk with Natalee: "She knows my message, that we are doing everything we possibly can, and we are determined to stay with this and to keep the pressure on."
But Twitty has set a tentative date to leave Aruba again, September 4th, the day suspect Joran van der Sloot could be released if authorities fail to make their case.
Twitty says, "The clock is also ticking for Natalee Holloway to be found and right now, I'm looking at … September 4th, and that's all I can think about right now."
The 17-year-old van der Sloot is the only suspect still being held in connection with Natalee's disappearance.
He continues to face daily interrogations, but his lawyer, Antonio Carlo, asserts he should ultimately be set free.
"Our client is maintaining his innocence and there is no basis to bring this matter to court," Carlo says.
Twitty says she also believes two Surinese brothers, who were detained and then released, but may still be suspects, know more than they're telling investigators.
The brothers, Deepak Kalpoe, 21, and Satish Kalpoe, 18, along with van der Sloot, were the last people seen in public with Natalee, 18, before she vanished in the early hours of May 30 on the final night of a high school graduation trip to the island.
But their attorneys say they're not ducking the truth.
Says David Kock, Satish Kalpoe's lawyer, "Nobody wants for the case to go away. …People want this case to be solved."
No one, Kirsch points out, more than Holloway's family.
Her uncle, Paul Reynolds, was adamant: "No there is no end. …We are cycling back and forth…jobs and families. …We're not going to leave.
So you are saying Natalee did go back to the hotel and that is why it is cut from the video?

Prayers for Natalee, family offered during Aruba trip

On a flight from Atlanta to Aruba for our family vacation, I was sitting next to a gentleman from Birmingham, Ala.
I asked him if he knew Natalee Holloway, the former Clinton resident who disappeared in Aruba, or the family.
The gentleman introduced himself as Matt Whatley. His daughter was Natalee's roommate at the Holiday Inn. This was his fifth trip to Aruba since Memorial Day weekend.
At our house for the past several weeks the entire family has been glued to news reports coming from Aruba because it is our family vacation destination. I told Whatley that my 6-year-old twins were innocently wanting to come to Aruba to help find Natalee. He broke down and was visibility moved by my kids' response.
Throughout the flight I listened as Whatley talked about Natalee. He pulled out a huge file showing me faxes from psychics, posters and police reports. I read one psychic's report that was handwritten on 18 pages. This was one of 13 documents the family had received from psychics.
Whatley told me that after Natalee first came up missing, her mother, Beth Holloway Twitty, himself and others confronted Joran van der Sloot and Katish and Deepak Kalpoe. He said Joran was very obnoxious and repeated that Natalee was very drunk.
Whatley told me that the story from the boys involved had changed so many times. When Natalee first came up missing, Whatley and family members even went to some crack houses to investigate Natalee's disappearance. Just think about the risks family and friends are taking to search for Natalee.
After landing, I wished him and the Holloway family the very best and if they need anything that we would be staying at the Marriott.
The day after our arrival to Aruba, I got a message to come to the front desk. Whatley had brought my family some handmade Natalee prayer bracelets made from colorful yarn. My family wore them everywhere.
When I call back home, everyone asks me about Natalee. The only news about Natalee I see here on the island is in the local paper, Aruba Today. News is sporadic.
I have seen media people from NBC, FOX and networks walking around the Marriott. Many have been stationed here for more than a month. My wife, Christy, and I came upon a FOX news studio one evening while going to dinner. Fox's Greta Van Susteren was going to interview Beth Holloway Twitty and Dave Holloway, Natalee Holloway's parents.
While eating sushi at the Marriott lounge we watched the interview on the TV.
Dave Holloway was interviewed first. During the interview with Beth Holloway Twitty, Dave Holloway and Natalee's aunt, Linda Twitty, walked up to catch the interview on TV. After Beth was interviewed, I approached Dave Holloway and told him that my wife and I were from Mississippi.
He wanted to talk about home. Aruba is full of tourists but most are from the northeastern United States. Having someone from home to talk to was a relief!
We talked about our businesses since we both are in the insurance business, people we both knew from Meridian (where he currently resides), Clinton (where he use to live) and Madison, and other Mississippi news.
Later, I told my wife, Christy, that I noticed the stress in his face. Holloway told me that he has been on the island every day but five days since Natalee's disappearance.
Everyone we see, from the members of the news media to locals and tourists, has his own story as to what happened to Natalee.
Aruba is truly one of the safest places in the Caribbean. I believe that the Aruban police are just as frustrated about Natalee's disappearance as everyone else. I feel for the family and I know if I was in their shoes I would be doing the very same thing that Beth Holloway Twitty and Dave Holloway are doing every day — looking for their daughter and using the media to get the message out.
Dave and Beth, everyone back home in Mississippi is praying with you in your search for your daughter, Natalee.
