This guy can be a real turd sometimes. He is kind of a tinfoil nut, but when he hits something he hits it dead on.

One minor correction. The Enola Gay only dropped the bomb on Hiroshima. Bockscar was the B-29 that dropped on Nagasaki.

If anyone says that the bomb shouldn't have been used then they should go talk to one of the soldiers, sailors or airmen who were to be part of the invasion force of Japan.

No historian can be taken seriously if he uses the term "Jap."

My addition would be to point out that even after the bombs were dropped, hardcore forces in Japan tried to stage a coup of sorts* to prevent the Emperor from surrendering (* they weren't going to remove him, but just "correct" him)...

I used to ask my father, who is now 86 why he wouldn't own a Toyota. I would tell him that they made good trucks. He would always reply, "I still remember what those slant-eyed sons of....... did at Pearl Harbor." Over the years, I have grown to understand why he felt that way, though I harbor no ill will toward modern Japan. That is unless they start whining about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Then I feel the need to remind them about Pearl Harbor. They started it. We finished it. They got what was coming to them.

Considering that it took not one but two atomic bombs to compel Japan to surrender, it's obvious that we did the right thing in using nuclear war to end their fanatical, tyrannical regime.

And as for those hand-wringers, never let 'em forget just who the hell started the war.

Memo to Japan

If this was July 1945, Newsday would be interviewing Japanese Kamakazi pilots who would give the reasons WHY they killed Americans. "It is because of the American oil embargo and the suffering of Japanese children", they would say.

the WW2 Japanese were like diabolical demon lemmings from Hell. Sometimes I wonder how much they have really changed , if given the chance...or perhaps China now takes the helm
in the Asiatic superiority complex?
Bring it on....

I knew an Iwo Jima Marine years ago at Ford Motor Company who retired rather than be forced to take an assignment where he would have to work closely with the Japanese. Anyone who wants a great read and stark insights on how these people thought and fought during that war might want to read "Flags of Our Fathers" by ? Bradley which is about the flag raising on Iwo Jima. They weren't going to quit and it would have taken tanker loads of our blood to defeat them. Truman had gonads as big as bowling balls, and I admire that Democrat for the decision to drop the bombs.

While most may not remember the details, they do know about that famous B-29 bomber which dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

There were TWO B-29's involved the actual dropping of bombs...

Enola Gay on Hiroshima (bomb nicknamed "Little Boy")...

And Bock's Car over Nagasaki (bomb nicknamed "Fat Man")...

Minor error, but an error nonetheless....
