The author of the article isn't objective, but this does not reflect well on Scranton.

This wasn't news to me at all. Scranton's affiliations with the Natural Law Party and the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi are well-known and have been for 20 years. Regardless of how we feel about this offbeat religion of transcendental meditation and its goals, Gunzberger's expose reeked of bigotry and hatemongering that really should be treated beneath contempt. I'd certainly think that if Mr. Scranton feels that engaging in that sort of meditation to give him inner peace helps him, well, good for him. I'd certainly take these Natural Law types over Islamic bombers and a good number of 'Rats.

I guess I can expect another expose on that "dangerous Sikh diaperhead" running for IL Lieutenant-Governor in his next piece.

Sickening.

Well, I was leaning toward supporting Swann anyway, but I really don't see why this is a big deal. The Maharishi might be a little bit weird, but from everything I can tell, he's harmless. I certainly wouldn't have any reason to think he'd be a bad governor just because he was/is interested in his teachings, at least unless someone wants to give me a good reason why I should.
