Do we have any calibration reference? On the Totenberg scale would Stevens and Ginsburg be moderate, Souter conservative, O'Conner very conservative and Scalia very, very, very, very, very, very, very conservative?

Submit that to the newspaper. But remember that they have a 300 word limit.

Nina; most of us care much more about whether he will follow the Constitution.
This is much more important than your definition of "conservative"

To: KarlInOhio; Registered

We need to get Registered to come up with a 'Very Conservative Meter' graphic or something like that. Then we can rank our Consevatives by their 'Very' count. I give Roberts 5 Very's. Scalia is almost a 10-Very!

I don't care about his politics. I hope:

1. He reads the constitutin and understands what plain words mean.

2. Is not so bound by stare decisis that he will overturn extra-constitutional decisions of the past 80 years when they need to be. [When they need be, I mean when they are not mooot or when he can not support them with Constitutional logic.]

Nina, Nina, Nina.....take a peek outside your "inside the beltway" cocoon every now and then and see how REAL people live, think, breathe, thrive....

You'd be surprised.....

"NPR's Nina Totenberg, who has tagged Supreme Court nominee John Roberts as 'very conservative,' 'very, very conservative' and 'very, very, very conservative,' as well as 'a really conservative guy,' 'a hardline conservative' and 'a clear conservative,' to say nothing of being 'a conservative Catholic'."

Yeah, Nina, when you're on the outer fringes of the Fever Swamp of the Left, people do appear to be "very, very, very conservative" on your radar screen.

< She and her little friend Anita went after Thomas... >

Wasn't she actually one of the instigators who supposedly "begged" Anita Hill to go to the committee?
