I agree that the lack of batting, rbi, and home run titles is irreleveant when judging a player's greatness. Yaz won a few titles, but here - in no particular order - are some stats from his prime years (Yes, I've leaving out his best numbers; the point is that interspersed with his 3 or 4 big years there were a number of relatively mediocre seasons and a few "good" years.) Few questions Yaz's hall-of-fame credentials, and in most cases Palmeiro compares very favorably.
Batting average: .278, .289, .255, .254, .264, .269, .267.
Home runs: 14, 15, 20, 16, 23, 15, 12, 19, 15, 14, 21.
RBI's: 68, 67, 72, 80, 74, 70, 68, 79, 60.
And those figures don't including his declining years (I don't think I included any stats past the age of 37.)

You have to mean(right word?) average a players stats versus the league averages...
Al Kaline put up great stats versus what the league was doing on average in the Pitcher's era of the 1960s...same for Yaz...

It appears that the only qctive player being honest about using steroids has been Jason Giambi.
