I may be wrong, but I think defending our own border is why we have a standing Army (Navy, and AF). I see nothing about stationing troops in foreign lands, within our Constitution...

That's what the Navy recruiter said. I had a low draft #, so I elected to go Navy RESERVE! I did three WestPac cruises on a tin can.

Where is their justification? Is it in the Constitution, or any of our founding documents? No, it is found in popular opinion, and IMHO, is a rejection of the Constitution. Maybe you agree with them... Abortion, and homosexualism, is legal, too!

What is wrong with placing our troops on OUR border?
I lived on the base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in 1962. I, along with my mother and sister, were evacuated from the base, on Oct 22, aboard the USNS Upshur, arriving in Norfolk when it was already cold and rainy. I knew a lot of the Marines, from my days of teaching sailing at the marina.
I spent many a day on that base, and the border with Cuba was constantly manned with our ARMED troops. Our Cuban maid had to go through a barbed wire runway to enter the base. It is sovereign US Territory. What training are you talking about?
