Why should a boss be responsible for a worker's baby if he wasn't in on the fun of conception?

And to put it yet another way, out of those same 168 nations, the US' GDP was larger than that of the next three countries combined. I therefore conclude, with the same logical rigor this author uses, that paid maternity leave destroys the economic vigor of a nation, lowering quality of life for everyone. Agenda-driven journalism is fun!

I was hearing the other day about how we have less holiday time than the other countries also. They question was, why? Could it have something to do with being able to pay our bills?
