I don't think that he is a great actor, either. Some actors get so far into a part that they become someone else. I never see him that way. It is as if he is trying to play the part as himself: If I, Tom Cruise, had become a fighter pilot, this is the way I would be. If I, Tom Cruise, had become an attorney, this is the way I would be. Etc., etc. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it doesn't make them a great actor. The great ones actually turn into and become someone else.
Gary Oldman
There are British actors that I have not recognized until the credits.
I know what you are saying. It is always Tom Cruise on the screen. His acting does not make one forget it is Tom Cruise playing such and such a character.
Tom Hanks became Forrest Gump
Jeff Daniels became Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain
Clark Gable became Rhett Butler
Tom Cruise does not have that type of talent.
Agreed - IMHO, Johnny Depp is a far superior actor (even though I disagree with his "America sucks" politics)
Yep...like Russell Crowe!!!
