WASHINGTON -- Rep. Robert B. Aderholt's cell phone rang Wednesday as the Alabama Republican was standing in the House gallery with some constituents.
It was President Bush.

As expected, the House had divided largely along partisan lines. But 27 Republicans bucked their party and president by casting "no" votes, while 15 Democrats defected from their leadership and supported the pact. Some members surprised their colleagues and angered interest groups by abandoning previous pledges or deviating from expectations with their votes.
Some said the defections should not go unpunished.
The Republican Main Street Partnership -- which represents centrist GOP lawmakers -- said it was distressed by votes against CAFTA by some lawmakers who also are members of the Club for Growth; the conservative fundraising organization has threatened to run primary candidates against moderate Republican incumbents. The Main Street group asked whether the Club for Growth would "hold these members [who voted against CAFTA] accountable" by running primary candidates against them.
But House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., said he had no plans to punish party members who had cast "no" votes.
On the other side, some activists urged labor unions to withhold contributions to the 15 Democrats who voted for CAFTA as Pelosi scheduled a meeting of Democrats to discuss the matter.

Yes, that was before her third face lift...I heard her plastic surgeon told her if she had one more lift, she would have a beard on her neck !!!!!!
:-)
Which Main Street would that be? The one in San Salvador?
CAFTA sucks.
America Forever. Latin America? Never.
Was this staged or did the yellow one just happen to be in the middle?
She's always going nutso about something isn't she? Damanding this or calling for that or challenging this or strongly urging that? What a loser. Oh and yes, she oughta toss that yellow jacket....makes her look like a "lemon" oh wait... :)
Why doesn't somebody do something about all that worthless crap cluttering the Capital steps?
Evil motives and ignorance don't mix well.
It saeems to me that the labor unions ought to work with the unions in those countries to get the changes they want. I just don't see us dictating working conditions, wages, and enviornmental protections by treaties.
How does it feel to be on the same side as Nancy Pelosi?

Exactly. Just follow the money - and the ONE AMERICA crowd.
How does it feel to be on the same side as Beavis or Butthead?
Can we clalk this up to jobs being created by CAFTA?
A little testy there, eh Reg?

I think we are going to find alot of folks on edge about CAFTA -- it is not good in my opinion as well and many feel very strongly about it now, especially knowing the agenda of the administration relative to ONE AMERICA and globalism. Ergo, our borders being deliberately left open, which is a huge travesty upon this country, in itself.
Expect alot of emotion on the border and CAFTA issues.
What, in pants? Drum heads aren't stretched as tight as her mutt face
Tough on them.
The CAFTA vote in the House proves two things to me: (1) The Democrats both fear and are owned by organized labor (2) Nancy Pelosi's leadership is not worth a damn to the unions or any other special interest trying to block legislation.
Why bother arguing with the clueless?
