"Is this Ed Dames' 'kill shot'?"
Naw. This is a publicity stunt arranged by
the studios fx departments for Tom Cruise's
movie--the one he ruin for Steven Spielberg.

coronal mass ejection"
This could be serious. My mother-in-law has them all the time, forcing us to evacuate the room. We don't call them CME's, we call them FARTs.

I've always wanted to see the Aurora Borealis. I had the extreme pleasure of seeing the Aurora once at Lake Tahoe, above Mt. Rose. It was because of some volcano erupting somewhere. Spectacular!

For a second there, I thought you said "colonel A$$ ejection" which is when a colonel kicks your butt out of his office for screwing up.

That would be termed rectal mass evacuation

We have the aurora most of the time at this latitude whether or not there is volcanic activity somewhere. They don't seem to be related.

I honestly think you couldn't open the bands right now with a crowbar and a pound of C4. I've heard lots of people complaining how bad DX is these days...to be expected at this point in the solar cycle I guess.
