To protest, Sanford showed up to the next session at the statehouse with two piglets--nicknamed Pork and Barrel--under his arms. "I told them to blame it on me," Sanford says. "I'll be the bad guy. I'll live with that. But once they rejected the vetoes I had to find a colorful way of representing what the voters already know--that there's too much pork."

That's classic...

You guys are so lucky to have such a wonderful governor.

Since he entered the statehouse in 2003, Sanford's approval ratings have risen from the mid-50s to 70 percent.

Imagine! All this by governing as a conservative and moving away from the mushy middle.

"Some of his biggest critics, surprisingly, are fellow South Carolina Republicans. They control both chambers of the legislature and have joined Democrats in blocking Sanford from moving much of his agenda--mainly spending cuts."

Not surprising. Many republicans love big government and pork just as much as the democrats do. Some even more.

The one you have looks pretty good to me.

"That's classic..."

Yeah, and look at the response:

"The governor needs to take his medication," Jim Harrison, a GOP representative from Columbia, told the Greenville News. "It's going to be very, very hard to work with him after this," another Republican, Bob Leach, added. "I don't know if anything else will be accomplished at all."

Why are there so many of these dirtballs in public life, almost to the exclusion of decent people?

He's better than average but every now and then he rolls out the pork barrel.

Tell you what. We'll give you our guy to become your SECDEF or Homeland Security boss (John Howard would have the National Guard and the Minutemen on the border so fast your eyes would water), and we'll take this guy.

Rove, RNC, are you listening? Triangulation is just using a time lag circuit to convert the GOP into Democrats. And all the DNC has to do to make it work is keep moving to the left.

And they can save even more by eliminating government pensions. Most of these are paid by workers in the private sector who have no pensions themselves. It's a bit Soviet if you ask me.

...
Republican (and former Democrat) Verne Smith, a 33-year veteran of the state senate, told the News that Sanford's vetoes were "mean-spirited." "He's just in that mindset, kind of a libertarian mindset," he continued. "I know I'm going to try and override every dad-jim one of [his vetoes] because I don't have any spirit for him."

Jim Harrison, RINO
Bob Leach, RINO
Verne Smith, RINO

We don't need RINOS in South Carolina. I'll vote against y'all if I can. Promise!

We'll also take Hillary (White Cliffs could use a new dog catcher).

We got a deal?
