One of the things that just went through my mind a few minutes ago that made me smile is the treasure trove of eternally useful phrases that the founders left us. The topical one today is...
"... abuses and usurpations."I always liked the sound of that...
They talked about tyranny a lot. One side would say there is every opportunity for tyranny to arise in any branch and the other side would say these are honorable men and would not attempt tyranny. Then the first side would say the people did not call the convention but the states did so why would the constitution be anything but establishment of tyranny over the people and the other side would say, well, we assume the rights of the people would be respected by these honorable men. Then the first side would say, then, why are the rights of the people not mentioned in the constitution, and the other side would say, oh, you got us in a corner now.
So the Bill of Rights was appended. They are chipping away at the Bill of Rights now. Like woodpeckers.
