just so that everyone understands, what nafta did was drive the mexicn farmers off their land because they could not compete with US agribusiness. part of the reason for the success of US agribusiness is that about 20 percent of their costs are defrayed by the US government. so US grains undercut mexican growers and drove them off the land where did they go? no opportunities in Mexico. they came to the usa.

same thing will happen with central america because of cafta.

This is true, I know some of these people. NAFTA has been a disaster to much of Mexican agriculture. NAFTA has been an economic failure for Mexico and foreign relation failure for the US.
