Why can't the victors just wipe off their bloody swords and "throw another shot back".
Next thing we'll see is some 08 candidate supporting gay marriage. Starts to piss me off when they can't deliver the coup de grace, on anything.
Well I'm glad ta see you picked up what I was alayin down!!!
Nancy Reagan is backing Frist on this issue.
Man hasn't got a hair!
As long as it's somebody else's stem cells he's happy to suck them out, but you just know that if it's his, and a full flensing is needed, he won't go for it.
We gots ta' have the quality people in line FIRST, to give it all up for the health of humanity.
It's for the public good donchaknow!
Yeah, all your clothes ~ off, it's a full flensing.
Well, anyway, medical waste may have uses ~ look at "Chuckie" Schumer for example.
Actually, the Luddites are the ones who prefer to use embryonic stem cells (for which there have been no successful animal models proving their use in curing human diseases) than the more advanced, and useful, adult stem cells.
There are over 100 different types of stem cells in the adult human body. I think of them as little machines that fix stuff. (I do not have such warm and fuzzies about embryonic stem cells though ~ they seem to be your fundamental neuron with a decided propensity to turn into cancer).
Nancy needs some good stem cells ~ maybe Bill Frist could give her some of his.
Can't we start pressuring our Senators to vote Frist out as majority leader?
You're a brave soul daring to say such a politically incorrect thing at Free Republic. IF mechanisms could be in place to ensure that only those that would be destroyed anyway are used for research I fully support. Of course that's not the issue here. Private institutions can obtain those materials without any restrictions now. The issue is whether there should be federal funding for this research. That requires a higher hurdle and checks to ensure there wouldn't be abuse. I lean in favor but still mulling this and welcome rational debate with pro's and con's on this.
Moral Absolutes Ping.
Okay, here are Frist's weasel words. Read 'em and weep. It's only acceptable under certain circumstances. Well, well, well. I bet you anything that there will be a lot more of these special circumstances. Anyone know how the House may vote on this cannibalism proposal?
Freepmail me if you want on/off this pinglist.
Note: There's a lot of other thoughts running around in my brain about this topic. Don't have time to express them right now. But here's a synopsis: No one lives forever. All flesh is prone to some kind of illness and pain. Perfect health, perfect comfort, and everyone being equal in all regards will never - NEVER - happen in this mortal world.
What does this have to do with embryonic stem cell research?
A lot.
Yes, a cosmetic surgeon for graft artists. Ir was that just a "graft" surgeon?(LOL).
The embryos in question are to be "forcibly" killed - or, in the current terminology, "immunologically disaggregated."
These are the brothers and sisters of the children already in the arms of mothers and fathers who yearned for children so much that they engaged in some of the most high-tech procedures regulated by medicine. At least their mothers and fathers (theoretically) desired them for themselves, and birth would be to their benefit more than anyone else's. But, they were created in a dangerous environment and the freezing further threatens their right not to be killed. Thawing, even to implant them, threatens them even more.
The only ethical "choices" for the parents of these children - that's what they are, since children at that stage of life look and function as embryos - is to maintain them in stasis forever or to very carefully attempt to implant them for the best chance of a normal life.
The founding fathers' actions were illegitimate if those rights are not unalienable, and if they are not endowed by our Creator. "Unalienable" rights do not develop, they do not appear magically according to geography, nationality, religion, race, or by the intentions of those who acted to conceive them. The Creator of embryos begun by in vitro is not some scientist or technician anymore than those of us who were conceived in vivo were created by our parents.
BTW, the feds have never paid for research on embryos - and IVF wasn't hurt, huh?
I'm afraid there's been a thriving market for fetal parts fueled by and fueling the abortion industry for years.
Must be a clip of that new movie called:
"How To Lose Your Strong Conservative Base in 3 Years"
Please show me where and how his statements now differ materially from his 2001 statements on the Senate record.
I'm probably dense, but I just can't see where he's flipping here.
