Mansour might argue that you can't read the Koran because (and I'm assuming here) you can't read classical Arabic. Since the Koran is the true, unadulterated, unabridged word of God, and since He chose to make His revelations in Arabic, the Koran is total perfection.

Of course, a tremendous fraction of the world's muslims are either functionally illiterate in Arabic, or functionally illiterate in their own native tongues, two points that are never mentioned when someone argues that to be a muslim is to know the Koran.

Of course, illiterate Mulims have a great exemplar in Muhammad, who himself was illiterate.

I heard this morning some minor talking head repeat the silly assertion, "Islamic violence and terrorism are based on a twisted reading of the Qu'ran." What garbage. If anything, you have to twist the plain meaning of the Qu'ran to condemn Islamic violence and terrorism.

Until and unless moderate Muslims become fully honest on that point and face up to it to really change it, I see little hope for Islam ever to coexist peacefully with other cultures.

Funny. Written Arabic didn't exist during the time of Mohammad. It was probably "recorded" in Aramaic and later translated to Arabic.

At any rate, the "religion" was invented by Mo to slake his limitless thirst for sex, power, and control.

If you don't join, they enslave or kill you. If you try to leave, they kill you. If you die killing a non moslem, you get to go to Allah's big whorehouse in the sky with a free token for 72 "virgins". Brilliant. No wonder There are over 1.2 billion slaves of Allah world wide.
