One need not spend more than 10 minutes in a pub in Ireland to discover that nearly every other word emanating from people's mouths starts with an F!
A collegue of mine moved from Galway. Same company but after his first meeting in the US, his manager asked him to tone down the expletives! He was surprised since his manager in Ireland was worse than he was. Still has to monitor in speaking in business meetings!

Sometimes I think that people in the US don't understand that there's rarely any malice meant in Irish swearing. I mean, I have some buddies who can swear mid syllable. ``I couldn't under-effin-stand how the bleedin' horse was a runner effin up in a one horse race,'' is something you'll hear in any pub most nights of the week! *L*
I think for a swear word to be really bad is when it's said with a tone that's malicious.
