All the attacks aimed at the Federalist Society by liberals are ridiculous.

The Society (of which I am a member) is more of a loosely-organized think-tank or debating society than anything else. It does not take litigating positions like the ACLU, and it doesn't engage in lobbying efforts like the ABA and other "professional" organizations for lawyers.

It is an intellectual organization plain and simple, and it is by no means ideologically monochromatic. Its supporters include figures on the right as diverse Richard Epstein and Robert Bork.

If Republicans can't defend the Federalist Society, which represents the best of the rising tide of conservative and libertarian legal thought in this country, then they can't defend SQUAT.
