WASHINGTON, July 28 - His problems remain many, and include the relentless violence in Iraq, the leak investigation that has ensnared some of his top aides and poll numbers that suggest substantial dissatisfaction with both his foreign and domestic policies.
But President Bush has still had a pretty good July, showing how his own doggedness and a Republican majority in Congress have consistently allowed him to push his agenda forward even when the political winds are in his face.
Yet there are limits to the message from this string of positive outcomes for the administration and its allies in Congress.
Mr. Bush remains at odds with substantial elements of his own party, including some Congressional leaders, on issues like federal financing for embryonic stem cell research and immigration, both of which threaten to explode into messy legislative battles in the coming months.

Well I remember one agenda that hasn't been heard about in a while. Anyone remember "Tax reform?"

Mr. Bush remains at odds with substantial elements of his own party . .
Yeah, he's not making much gains on stopping the gov't from stealing our money by enacting social security reforms either.
NYT: "Dammit"!

All three of these are fabrications of the liberal media. I could argue the good that is happeing in Iraq; no top aid is "ensnared" (caught!?); and the poll numbers were a push poll when you look at the questions.
And with a supposed Conservative majority to boot! It really is sickening.
What was his agenda anyways?
:~)
I would need a week to answer that question.

Try our borders, tax reform, social security reform --- better yet, come at it from another direction when it comes to evaluating Bush.
Pretend for a moment, that 9/11 never happened. And most likely, neither would have Iraq and Afghanistan.
Now, what would you have in the way of Presidential performance ??? Especially when you consider he has a majority in the Congress...national security? immigration? social security overhaul? significant government spending reduction? resulting tax reform?
Sorry.
The Times continues to underestimate this president.
No child left behind. /sarc
He has definitely reshaped the GOP into an entity barely recognizable to Ronald Reagan if he were still alive to tell you about it.

Yes, how could I forget? He handed the government education system back to the libs -- God help us. I remember the day when he was thanked by Teddy Kennedy in the Congress for that. Oh, was I ill.
The Times never has anything positive to say about President Bush or anything he does. The same, it seems, with many posters on this site.

So true. I recall my last visit to the Ronnie Reagan library and I thought about that very fact. I know Ronnie would not be a happy camper watching these spineless losers in a majority Congress pander like butlers to the left...
