That was my wing two years ago and they were having big issues then, and from last I heard they are still having culture issues today. Actually I was supposed to go there again after my tour in Europe, but I've decided I want a family and am settling down with my German fiancee and doing the civilian thing for awhile.
The big problem is that the guard want to have their reduced schedule and not to deploy so much anymore. The active duty needs to work longer hours to reach their flying requirements. The blended wing concept forces the two to create a schedule regulating them to flying schedule that doesn't totally satisfy either. It's worse among the maintainers. The guard brought lots of high level technicians that never worked the E-8C before, but still were higher in overall aircraft experience then a lot active duty NCOs. This caused a problem among NCO leadership since the active duty NCOs who were in charge would clash with the guard NCOs who had both experience and an attitude of I'm-right-and-prove-me-wrong that the airmen noticed.
...While it is a good thing that people cannot distinguish the difference, it is important to know the status since there are certain things that people cannot ask technicians to do when they are not on military status, Chief Bynum said. This is both for the protection of the technician and supervisor.
Sounds like Air Force stuff to me, but hard to tell the difference.
