if you vote Democrat enough you will never pay another medical bill as long as you live

That's right, Rick. Democrats will make health care FREE. And food, and CD players, and popsicles. ALL FREE.

We are terrified the little people will find out this magnificent secret: Democrats can make everything FREE.

We now return you to the sane universe.

These programs make life in America fundamentally better. And because these gooses, Social Security, Medicare, lay golden eggs. They manufacture Democrats.

So he admits that the purpose of bloated government is to create democrats. The first claim is immaterial, when the funds run out of money it doesn't matter if programs made America better or worse...all they are doing now is building up a bomb that will go off in the next generation or so...but the dims don't understand, and they don't care to understand...so what if our children are burdened with a crushed economy.

It is the duty of every generation of Democrats to produce new geese to lay 70 years of golden eggs. It is the only way our party has grown...

And even more ignorant is the desire to tack on a boondoggle every generation or so. It doesn't matter that the ones that are already in place will blow up in the next 20 years or so. This is nothing more than Nero fiddling while Rome is burning. Sorry, but no more Nero-like dimocrat programs please. I care what is left to my children.

But if the dims have their way and they are allowed to crash our economy, that offer of 40 goats for Chelsea might turn out to be a good deal.

"So it may come as a surprise to you that I've never been impressed by the argument that we need a new idea infrastructure. We've got more ideas than we need.

... Let's talk about Social Security. ... Now think about this: They are drawing on the capital of an entitlement passed 70 years ago." - Perlstein

And there's the rub. Democrats have more ideas than they need; those ideas are decades old.

What Democrats don't have are new ideas, modern ideas, ideas that would actually work in the 21st century. Abortion on demand, a tired idea even back when Roe v Wade was butchered and thrust upon us in 1973, isn't new. Gay marriage isn't new. Gays in the military isn't new. Raising taxes isn't new. Spending more money isn't new. Letting France dictate American foreign policy isn't exactly a popular modern concept, either. Bringing back the draft, a resolution sponsored by Democrats as recently as last year, isn't a new (or popular) idea.

Democrats are against private school choice vouchers for inner city minority children. Why?! Don't those vouchers " make life in America fundamentally better?!" Aren't those school vouchers capable of producing "new geese to lay 70 years of golden eggs?!" Don't those school vouchers show that Democrats would be (if Dems backed them) "credible in our pledge to deliver new kinds of power to ordinary people in their every day lives?!"

Of course. And Dems will fight school choice vouchers to the death, in spite of school vouchers perfectly matching every *claim* that Perlstein makes...because Democrats *aren't* about the Middle Class or the "working man."

No, Dems will fight school choice vouchers to show that they care more about protecting elitist union Democrats than about giving the working man a decent education.

I've seen a lot of criticism of Bush and pubbies at FR, but I've never seen one poster who was going to "demobilize" and start running with the donkeys. He's dreaming.

In fact, the assault of the Dims and MSM on Bush and the pubbies was so extreme and so disgusting in 2004 that I saw FReepers united as I've never seen before to defeat Dims.

Perlstein doesn't understand that nobody could possibly organize all the individual efforts that go into FR by using a top-down hierarchial leadership structure. There's too many individuals making too many decisions about individual action for this forum to be managed in that way. This is a forum based on grass-roots activism and individual initiative. There is no high-level management of FR other than the excellent management of the FR website. This is a forum built on individual freedom, personal initiative, and personal responsibility, which are the values we believe in around here.

"What I call "superjumbos"—grand policy commitments that span generations—add value by the very credibility of the commitment. "

Memo to Rick Perlstein: You're going to be waiting generations to enact any more 'superjumbos'. The rats are out of power and are doing everything wrong to get power back. Learn to accept it or you will die a very angry man....

Hey Rick, ponzi schemes are illegal because the people in first make big money and the late comers are left holding the (empty) bag.

That's exactly what is happening with the Democrat ponzi scheme called Social Security. For my grandparents Social Security was a golden goose, put in a dollar and get a hundred back.

Soon my grandchildren will be putting in a hundred dollars and getting one dollar back.

That's going to produce millions of Republicans in the coming years.

The only thing the Dims get right with the "American Dream Initiative" is that they're dreaming if they think Americans will believe the crapola in this piece.

By the way, every time I hear the Democrat Party (they hate it when you call them that) call itself "centrist" or "progressive", I am reminded of how Communists dictatorships attempt to disguise the true nature of their ideals by referring to everything as "The Peolple's (fill in the blank). Take a good long look at how much the people actually own in the People's Republic of China, and you'll get a great idea of how centrist and progressive the "...centrist Democratic Leadership Council..." actually is.

What's the deal? Almost 5 years here, and a dollar-a-day FReeper and I've never gotten marching orders. Am I missing something? :)

Slim, haven't you learned the secret handshake yet?

There is a website that thousands of committed Republicans spend hours on, giving and receiving marching orders.

That's the funniest thing I've read today. With all of the Buchananites, Tancretins, and RonPaulists on these threads (and other sundry characters), trying to give marching orders to all the Freepers is like herding a bunch of cats!

For emphasis, could someone please post the picture of the "WTF Kitty"? Thanks!
