'many Republicans in Congress are more loyal to party than to principle. '
I think they have the party confused.

The definition of the term 'real conservative' is quite subjective. Yes it is, but the aspect of conservatism we're talking about here is the desire for a smaller, less-intrusive government.

To truely win you must be willing to lose. You're full of good ones today!

"Yup. Bush is no friend of those who would like to see a smaller, less intrusive government. Anyone who would like to claim otherwise is welcome to list any accomplishments Bush has made in this direction." Not me. He has enlarged government. Let illegal immigration get out of hand (a definite negative after 9/11) and has a hands off policy to much in the middle east that needs a good swift kick in the ass. I dont know what he stands for and I voted for him and still consider him the only choice. The people need to somehow make a statement.

Yes, that Bircher "rag" is more harmful to people like you who deny truth and spend their lives sound asleep and completely blind to what's going on around you.
The fact is that the Birchers have been right on every single issue, without exception, since 1958 when the society was formed to fight communism and one world-ism.
Before you criticize, do a little research. Have a nice day.

That's politics. This is why the Medicare prescription bill flew through Congress with little more than a whimper from Republicans.
There is an opposite view to consider too. A Democratic President can often have better success introducing conservative legislation than a Republican President. An example is the Welfare to Work legislation passed during the Clinton years. Had the Republicans tried accomplishing just half what this legislation proposed they would have been slammed from one end of the nation to the other as being uncaring.
The mechanics of politics can be very interesting.

So which Democrat president created the EPA, the Department of Homeland Security, Affirmative Action, the most restritive campaign law in history, Federal power to check out your reading material, and so many other Federal programs? It's a tall order but I'll give a partial answer.
The EPA was created by Nixon to consolidate these Federal Departments:
The functions carried out by the Federal Water Quality Administration (from the Department of the Interior).
Functions with respect to pesticides studies vested in the Department of the Interior.
The functions carried out by the National Air Pollution Control Administration (from the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare).
The functions carried out by the Bureau of Solid Waste Management and the Bureau of Water Hygiene, and portions of the functions carried out by the Bureau of Radiological Health of the Environmental Control Administration (from the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare).
Certain functions with respect to pesticides carried out by the Food and Drug Administration (from the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare).
Authority to perform studies relating to ecological systems now vested in the Council on Environmental Quality.
Certain functions respecting radiation criteria and standards vested in the Atomic Energy Commission and the Federal Radiation Council.
Functions respecting pesticides registration and related activities now carried out by the Agricultural Research Service (from the Department of Agriculture).
Several of these are FDR's but I know the FDA originated with Teddy Roosevelt along with the Department of the Interior. I think a couple came from Truman, Kennedy and LBJ.
Homeland Security is Bush.
Affirmative Action is LBJ.
Most restrictive campaign law is easily John Adams. His Sedition Act caused Ben Franklin's grandson to be arrested. But the Democrats start with Jackson so I'm not sure if you want to count this.
The government has been reading people's personal mail since forever so I think Washington gets the nod on that.

the largest government entitlement program since Medicare? [$500 billion prescription drug program for seniors] Actually the prescription drug benefit is estimated to cost $724 billion from 2006 to 2015. Other medicare spending through that time period is estimated to be close to $4 trillion.
But you make your point.
To: Ol' Sparky
Yet the US deficit in Clinton's first term increased $1.2 trillion. In Bush's first term the increase is $1.3 trillion. In percentage terms it's less.

Corin Stormhands sounds like the name of one of his characters.

One last thing rember the keto ruling that said private property rights are a figment of your imagination and that the government owns all property and can take your house from you anytime a big business owner want its 3 of the 5 supreme court "justices" that ruled that way were appointed by republicans. Not sure about the rest of your comments but this one nails it. At least Bush has refused to allow the ABA to provide the candidates.

My kids use that. That's funny. I don't remember my name from that.
