Mother accused of abandoning child on Beltway, faces charges

A Newport News, Va., woman is facing charges including felony child neglect after police said she abandoned her 4-year-old son and struck him with her car Tuesday night on the Beltway in Falls Church. Virginia State Police said Channoah Alece Green, 22, left her son along the heavily traveled interstate when she became upset with him. She also faces a felony hit-and-run charge related to the incident; police said she hit her son with the car when he tried to climb back inside. "Apparently, as she pulled away, she actually struck her own child and knocked him to the ground," Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. J.L. Doss said. A motorist spotted the boy and called police at about 10 p.m. Officers picked him up near the Lee Highway overpass, and he was treated for cuts and bruises at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Police turned the boy over to Fairfax County Child Protective Services. Sgt. Doss said yesterday that he already had been placed in a temporary foster home. Police found Miss Green after she was involved in a two-car crash on southbound Interstate 95 near Richmond at about 11:30 p.m. Miss Green faces a reckless-driving charge related to the crash, which police said is still under investigation. She was treated at a hospital and is scheduled to appear in a Fairfax County court today, Sgt. Doss said.

This lady has rocks in her head. The rocks are right next to the cobwebs.

Poor kid. Lucky to be alive.

We ALL get mad at our kids now and then same as our parents got mad at us...but we never kicked them out of the car like this pig did. why couldn't he have part of the burger? Boy, has motherhood changed. My mother would have starved but would have made sure WE KIDS had the food. For some, motherhood is just a word. For some motherhood is a burden. For us it was our job and while we got tired and felt put upon etc...we were still MOTHERS first and foremost and our children came before all else. What this so called mother did is unforgiveable. Can you imaine your own mother putting you out on the road alone? God almighty...someone needs to come down and spare this world of the depravity that has taken over.

Poor child, wish we were able to adopt from MO. I couldn't help but notice that he was found in Falls Church and she was in Richmond - isn't that about an hour away from other?

Gotta be drugs or licker involved in that deal---stupidity is not an adequate explanation. Another Lyndon Johnson happy home? The prefix was "miss"----maybe she was hurrying to get her govamint check? Two incidents back-to-back and the judge turned her loose. What's the judge smokin'?

Unfreakinbelievable - she'll get a slap on the wrist and the child will continue to be in her custody.

Something is terribly wrong in a society when mothers quit caring for their children. I just read another story today about a 7 year old child abandoned on a road in Florida by his mother.

No idea on the distance, I've never visited Virginia. Somebody will probably eventually be adopting this kid, can't think of anyone better suited than a Freeper.

One reason we need to have MANDATORY STERILIZATION for losers. These morons keep reproducing, end up cosing us money and ruining the lives of children to come.
