Absolutely, 100% correct. I stated similar views in another Tancredo/Nuke Mecca thread. This is how real diplomacy happens. Diplomacy works when there is an implicit threat to be carried out in case of non-compliance. That's probably a sad commentary on the human race, but it's true nonetheless.

I would also like to mention that I don't really relish the idea of using nuclear weapons. I don't even like to think about all the women and young children living in or near Mecca that would kill. I am not bloodthirsty killer. But putting forth the use of nukes as an option may make islamists take pause. In that, alone, saying such things have their utility.

It was never off the table to begin with. Sometimes it's better to not announce you will use the whuppin stick on someone and let them figure it out for themselves...

I agree that a nuke will fly if we get nuked, but what I DON'T agree with is how, even in a theoretical, a politican, someone who should know better, would let himself be cornered into saying he would nuke anyone.
