Your post brings to mind the EC-121s I crewed on in Thailand years ago. The aircraft was loaded with avionics gear (all vacuum tube tech). The air cond was a brute. We always drew comments from the uninitiated when the crew showed up at the aircraft for pre-flight carrying sweaters and flight jackets when the ambient temp was 95 and about 95 humidity. After returning from a 14-15 hour mission stepping out into the heat was quite refreshing.
