A Day in the Life of President Bush - 7.27.05
Whitehouse.gov, Yahoo.com | 7.27.05 | ohioWfan

Posted on 07/27/2005 4:03:04 PM PDT by ohioWfan

President Bush went to Capitol Hill this morning, accompanied by Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, to meet with and speak to the House Republican Conference and discuss issues and encourage support for CAFTA. Later he welcomed March of Dimes National Ambassador, Navy Anderson of Logan, Utah in the Oval Office, and then greeted the 2005 Boys and Girls’ Senators in the East Room. The Senators were selected to represent their states by the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary. Tonight the President will be traveling to Ft. A.P. Hill in Virginia to address the Boy Scout Jamboree meeting there, to voice his support of the Scouts, and his thoughts and prayers for the families of the leaders who were killed yesterday.

ENJOY your trip to Sanity Island, and the Daily Dose!!

There is a tape of bird songs you might find interesting.....Also many like the Oreo sing their own name as part of their repertoire. It isn't a dove is it? The repeat a note and then sing oooooo which goes down about a minor third. Often sing during morning.

Hmmmmm..........no, I don't think so. There's definitely a whirring sound and an oo.

I know what a turtle dove sounds like, and it's not that.

I too am falling asleep here, so I'll check back in the morning and reply.

I just realized that I've posted almost 300 threads (I'll have that done in a few weeks).

I'm getting to be a veteran here!

GOOD NIGHT, ALL!

Mama, I saw a great blue a few years ago. We were walking around a lake in a small preserve near here and saw him standing on the shore kitty korner to us. I had NO idea they were that big. I thought it was a man standing there. Can you imagine what their nests look like?

A friend of mine who lives a few blocks from me has a small waterfall and fish pond and she says the great blues eat her little goldfish.

I don't know if there are any tours inside now. After 9/11 they stopped them all, and then started a few tour groups, but I don't know if other people can go in now.

Maybe some of our Maryland/DC people can tell you that.....

My friend has a nest.....We watch the bird for quite a while.....Largest bird (Other than the turkeys ...saw seven today) was an Osprey that visited a couple of years ago....It almost cleaned my pond out of fish.

Believe it or not, a chickadee. They do it when there's an enemy nearby. I've heard them. It's actually the "d" sound at the end of their "chickadee" call, but then they keep doing the "dee" sound over and over. The more serious the threat to them the more they do the "dee" sound. It's been described as a "zee" sound, and that's just the way I heard them do it.

By the way, I never knew they climbed up trees and ate bugs until I saw them doing it today. Adorable little creatures.

The turkey vultures can sometimes take a person back a bit, particularly when they fly over your car.....We have a roost (over a dozen) about a mile down the road.......

I got a glimpse of what we thought was a turkey vulture about 30 miles from here a few weeks ago. Man, they are ugly.

"No Flip Flops on those kids."

LOL! That's exactly what I was looking at. I also noticed that they all had respectable length skirts on, too.

About ready to fall over here. This WONDERFUL cool weather is tempting me to bed, a book, and FINALLY a night w/o an air conditioner sounding like it's about to gasp and die. Goodnight, all.

Must do some serious bonding with my pillow.....If you're ever in SO IN stop by....Hope to have the cabin open for guest very soon. Three more projects.

Thanks ever so much, snugs! I surely do need it.

It's always so much better to move in the summer than the winter, and the forecast looks good for moving day.

I will be happy when it's over.

Shortly after I get moved, I'll be housesitting about 70 miles from my new home, sort of a vacation for me really, as the place is so peaceful, beautiful, and on the water, which is my favorite place to be.

I truly feel the effects of the prayers of God's people. What a blessing to be a part of His family!
