And is willing to sacrifice his own life to make it happen. Not only will negotiation not work, but neither is the threat of deadly force a deterrent.
Their annihilation is the only answer I can see, and the ACLU be damned.
Christopher Hitchens sees beyond.
No offense but I think your friend Barbara Stock may have gotten that line from one Edmund Burke.
I agree. Eventually the most militant will be dead, and the rest will be discouraged.
Bump.
Thanks Tolik!
It's interesting. It's obvious that Chris Hitchens still have his heart in London (he was a Brit); however, on one of the talking head shows on TV, he said that he is now a U.S. citizen. I think he loves both countries, and I also think his Marxist philosophy has been continuously eroded in his mind, by the fallacies inherent to it. I have watched Hitchens slowly modify his earlier and younger stances. His progression is just a bit slower than some, but he is progressing.
It reminds me of David Horowitz, who went from socialist to basically a conservative on a crusade against PC and leftist colleges and universities. Chris is on the road to a much more conservative stance. I'm not sure he fully realizes it yet, but he is. He'll probably always maintain certain positions, such as atheism, although who knows, one day he may end up an agnostic, a step in the right direction. And I doubt he'll ever get over his grudge against Mother Theresa. But one can't expect perfection. I'll take Hitchens, warts and all, because he is amusing, very intelligent, and even if you disagree with him, he stimulates the brain cells and one thinks. Thinking is good.
